Stratton defends 6-man football state title

The Eagles defeated Cheyenne Wells 69-14 in the championship game on Friday at CSU-Pueblo.

PUEBLO, Colo — The Stratton football team is adding another trophy to the collection.

The Eagles, who earned the top seed in the 6-man playoff bracket, were dominant over No. 6 Cheyenne Wells in the championship game on Friday at CSU-Pueblo -- winning 69-14 to defend their state title.

It is the 10th championship in program history for Stratton.

"Never be satisfied," junior running back Brody Webb said. "When we do our jobs, nobody can beat us."

The win capped off a perfect season for the Eagles, who went an undefeated 13-0 on their championship run.

Cheyenne Wells finishes with an 8-6 overall record as runner-up.
